How to unlock your Smartphone without the right password or lock pattern?

There are basically two methods of locking an android smartphone, either with a password or with a lock pattern. If you have your phone locked and you forgot the password, you can retrieve it back with the following options.

Option 1: "Forgot password" method:
Keep entering the wrong password or wrong pattern until the phone prompts with the 'forgot password/pattern' option. Click on the forgot password. A new page will open which will require you to enter your Google account login details. After succefful login, the phone will allow you to reset the password or pattern.

Option 2: In case if you do not remember your Google account details or you do not have one linked to your phone, you will have to hard reset your Android phone. It will delete all the settings and apps on your phone. To do this, follow the below steps:

Step 1: Shut down your phone

Step 2: Hold down the Volume Up + Home + Power keys (or Home+power or Home+volumeUp) until you see the phone logo screen.

Step 3: When you get the phone's logo screen, release the power and home button, but continue holding the Volume button until you get the Android System Recovery option.

Step 4: Now, go to the wipe data/factory reset option from the menu and tap the power button to select it. Choose 'yes-delete all user data' option on the confirmation screen.

Step 5: Once the recovery process is complete, you will be returned to the recovery menu. Select the 'reboot system now' option.
Your phone will now work perfectly without needing a password or pattern.
